“Ton” is a popular brand of cricket bats, it is not accurate to claim that it is the best cricket bat for everyone. The choice of a cricket bat is subjective and depends on various factors, including the player’s preferences, playing style, and individual feel for the bat.

Different cricket bat brands offer a variety of models with distinct features, shapes, and materials. Players often choose bats based on personal comfort, balance, weight, and the type of pitches they typically play on. Professional cricketers, for example, may endorse a particular brand, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best for every player.

When selecting a cricket bat, it’s essential to consider factors such as the type of wood used, the bat’s weight, balance, grip, and the player’s style of play. Brands like Ton, along with others such as Gray-Nicolls, Kookaburra, and Gunn & Moore, are all reputable and produce high-quality cricket bats. It’s recommended to try out different bats and find the one that suits your playing style and preferences the best.

Ton Cricket Bats, also known as Sareen Sports Industries, is a well-known cricket bat manufacturer based in India. They produce cricket bats for players of all levels, including juniors. Ton Cricket Bats offers a range of cricket bats designed specifically for junior players, taking into consideration factors such as size, weight, and the playing level of young cricketers.

It’s essential to note that product offerings and specifications may change over time, so I recommend checking the official website of Ton Cricket Bats or contacting authorized dealers to get the most up-to-date information on their product lines and whether they continue to manufacture bats for junior players.

TON Reserve Edition- Ton bats- Full PROFILE SHAPE: The full player’s style cricket bat is the most common of bats in cricket bat production. This kind of profile is both the most powerful and most forgiving. Such a design is what you will usually see at the international level. A full profile usually means one of two things. Either the bat is constructed from high quality lightweight willow or has an above average weigh with minimum concaving and scalloping at the back of the bat.

TON Reserve Edition- Ton bats- A Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which allows you to get your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

TON Reserve Edition- Ton bats- A Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

TON Reserve Edition- Ton bats- A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION: Not too high or too low, the mid sweet spot position is the most popular setup among all cricket bats. TON Reserve Edition- Ton bats- A semi-square TOE:  This bat is not fitted with a toe guard. I would suggest adding a toe guard to this bat as it would protect the bat against excessive moisture. The main reason for a Semi square toe is it help minimize damage from tapping at the crease and running between the wickets with your bat, as the toe is slightly offset.

The bat consists out of a longer blade and a shorter handle. The Bat has a full profile with 38mm edges and 2lb 9oz in weight.

Ideally suited to the stroke maker who likes to send balls out of the park, very well balanced and light pick up for the mid to low profile. The Picks up is at least an ounce lighter than the dead weight. The ping (What is ping in a cricket bat? Ping describes the rebound after impact on the face of a cricket bat.

A bat with good ping will offer greater control and power when hitting a cricket ball. I determine the qualities of a bat’s ping with a cricket bat mallet.) Will help you to hit those huge sixes you always wished for. The Bat is having a huge sweet spot with extraordinary balance.

This bat is top line SS English Willow Cricket bat. Its handle is made of top quality canes which give super easy and shock free Cricketing performance. The all new logs and graphics of this Gold edition bat perfectly suited to the players who want great performance with some glitter in their bat.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats- A Duckbill PROFILE SHAPE: This profile adds thickness to the toe and assists with the pickup of the bat. This ensures that the bat is well balanced. Many international and professional players prefer this batting profile due to the correct balance of wood left in the hitting zone of the bat. Perfect for dominant front foot players and when you play on slow low pitches. You will be able to hit big shots clearing the boundary with this bat.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats- A Slight BOW: This is a combination of the traditional and large bow which is the most common when making a cricket bat. Indian sub-continental shapes are typically seen with a more pronounced bow enabling the sweet spot to be lower on the blade as well. Ideal to bat with this bat on slow low pitches. This is a regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats- Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats- Semi Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats- Mid to more low SWEET SPOT POSITION: A 2-in-one setup that allows favorability to players who like to hit down the ground, but still want the benefits of a mid-sweet spot.

TON Gold Edition Ton bats – Semi -oval HANDLE TYPE: The handle has 3 rubber inserts that assist with shock absorption and comfort. A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. Although the grade of the willow is not as good as the Ton Gold edition, you will still feel the bat’s elegant pickup and rebound. The willow is naturally air-dried and shaped as per the specifications of the world’s top players.

The bat is supported with big massive concave edges that enable high optimum performance. Edge thickness is between 38-40 mm. The specially designed scale Bat Handle Grip and the combination of the Sarawak Cane Handle will give you an excellent feel. The Weight of the bat can vary between 1200-1255 grams, but the pickup weight I would say is about 1100 grams.

The embossed chrome sticker gives the bat a great finish. Made and prepared in India. Available in the Long blade and short handle sizes. The handle feels a bit thin with the triangular grips, I would change it with the ripple grips that are thicker and that will make the pick-up of the bat lighter.

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -Little to no wood was taken out. Full PROFILE SHAPE:

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -Extended 64mm SPINE HEIGHT: The cricket Bat Spine is found on the back face of the cricket bat. The spine is the line that runs down the center of the cricket bat’s back starting from the handle and running down to the toe. Higher spine or a thicker swell depth represents more willow mass behind the sweet spot.

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was. You get more deflection for off-centred shots, which a touch player can exploit for late shots backward of the square. Round faces put less stress on the shoulders and handle because that energy is deflected rather than twisting the blade. All that puts stress around the splice joint, so the flatter the face the more twist is generated the harder you hit and closer to the edge. It is the same reason a flatter face is more forgiving and more energy remains in the shot for off-centre shots making the middle feel wider. The big edge was a by-product of the flatter face. The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise

TON Silver Edition Ton bats –A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION:

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment and slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

TON Silver Edition Ton bats -Slightly round TOE: This bat needs some form of toe preparation via shoe goo, a toe guard, or your favorite secret recipe.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats: Full PROFILE SHAPE: The full player’s style cricket bat is the most common of bats in cricket bat production. This kind of profile is both the most powerful and most forgiving. Such a design is what you will usually see at the international level. A full profile usually means one of two things. Either the bat is constructed from high quality lightweight willow or has an above average weigh with minimum concaving and scalloping at the back of the bat.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats: A Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which allows you to get your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats: A Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats: A Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot. A slight curve also allows batsmen to be confident when using their wrists to manipulate the face angle.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats:  A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION: Not too high or too low, the mid sweet spot position is the most popular setup among all cricket bats. This setup gives performance both straight and square of the wicket, while allowing players to be confident with an array of shots. This prime sweet spot position is also famous for what many refer to as a ‘balanced’ pickup.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats: Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly strengthens the Top hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

Ton Gutsy- Ton bats : A semi-square TOE:  This bat is not fitted with a toe guard. I would suggest to add a toe guard to this bat as it would protect the bat against excessive moisture. The main reason for a Semi square toe is it help minimize damage from tapping at the crease and running between the wickets with your bat, as the toe is slightly offset.

Ton Super- Ton bats: A Duckbill PROFILE SHAPE: This profile adds thickness to the toe and assists with the pickup of the bat. This ensures that the bat is well balanced. Many international and professional players prefer this batting profile due to the correct balance of wood left in the hitting zone of the bat. Perfect for dominant front foot players and when you play on slow low pitches. You will be able to hit big shots clearing the boundary with this bat.

Ton Super- Ton bats: A Slight BOW: This is a combination of the traditional and large bow which is the most common when making a cricket bat.

Ton Super- Ton bats:Slight Bow

Ton Super- Ton bats: Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.

Semi Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

Ton Super- Ton bats: Mid to more low SWEET SPOT POSITION: A 2-in-one setup that allows favourability to players who like to hit down the ground, but still want the benefits of a mid-sweet spot.

Ton Super- Ton bats: Semi oval HANDLE TYPE: The handle has 3 rubber inserts that assist with shock absorption and comfort. A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

Ton Super- Ton bats: A semi square to square TOE: This bat needs some form of toe preparation via shoe goo, a toe guard or your favourite secret recipe.

9. Ton Glory- Ton bats

This bat really gives glory to your hands. The bat is made out of Grade 4 English willow, but the cleft looks almost like Grade 2 English Willow. Affordable bat that will still give you excitement when you hit the ball of the blade of the bat.

Ton Glory- Ton bats: Little to no wood was taken out. Full PROFILE SHAPE:

Ton Glory- Ton bats:  Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

Ton Glory- Ton bats:  Extended 64mm SPINE HEIGHT: Cricket Bat Spine is found on the back face of the cricket bat. The spine is the line that runs down the center of the cricket bat’s back starting from the handle and running down to the toe. A higher spine or a thicker swell depth represents more willow mass behind the sweet spot.

Ton Glory- Ton bats: A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was.

Ton Glory- Ton bats:  A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION:

Ton Glory- Ton bats:  Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment and slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

Ton Glory- Ton bats:  Slightly round TOE: This bat needs some form of toe preparation via shoe goo, a toe guard, or your favorite secret recipe.

Ton Elite- Ton bats: Slightly Scalloped PROFILE SHAPE: A small amount of scalloping is seen in many cricket bats. The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide as possible. Even very high-quality bats can contain a small amount of scalloping in order to reduce their weight.

Ton Elite- Ton bats: Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.

FAQs

It is a bat that gives you power and style without any effort.  I believe the Ton range will give you that extra oomph in your game.

The “TON” stamp on the edge of a cricket bat is the branded logo of SAREEN SPORTS (SS) also known as Sunridges. They brand the edges to ensure that when their bats are used by professional cricketers with other sponsors’ labels, the origin of the bat remains. Ton stands for 100 or century.

SS TON is a premium cricket bat manufacturer making their cricket bats in India. There are SS cricket bats and there are TON cricket bats

Partially true because TON cricket bats are made by Sareen Sports Industries in India. In addition TON is also a registered trademark of SS. TON was registered as a trade mark when SS was pulling its sleeves to introduce SS bats in EnglandSurridge Sports – UK, which also goes by SS does not have the same logo as Sareen Sports. Not to confuse their prospect customers, Sareen Sports may have decided to register TON as the brand to sell bats in UK. TON Cricket bats were launch in UK with Ravi Bopara and few other local players. TON stamps on SS and TON bats caught players’ eye and the launch was a huge success. World got to see new TON stickers on Sareen Sports bats that else were in the world were sold with SS stickers.

Ton cricket bats are part of the world-renowned Sareen Sports Industries. Which first started exporting cricket bats to the UK in 1979.

Comparison cannot be done simply because both SS and TON Cricket bats are made from English Willow procured from UK at Sareen Sports complex in – India. Yes, each bat’s quality, sweet spot, life and the price will vary. Top-grad bats in each brand are made with the same willow. For example, SS Gladiator Cricket Bat and SS Reserve Edition Cricket bats have same Willow grade with varied profile. This is what makes both distinct cricket bats in their own way.

The most expensive product is SS Ton Reserve Edition English Willow Cricket Bat (SH, 1200 g). Contrary to this, the lowest priced product is SS Ton Max power Kashmir Willow Cricket Bat (SH, 1200 g).

You can expect long innings of solid hitting with Ton Cricket Bats, good shock absorption with curved edges, and a mid-swell position. Most of the bats are evenly balanced with clean willow (Having no blemishes). These bats have normally a spine height of 64-65mm thick, 40mm edges, and weigh approximately 2lb 9oz. It might vary from bat to bat. The wood of Ton Cricket bats is carefully air-dried over a period of 12 months to the correct moisture content and the blades are graded according to grain, colouring and any small blemishes.  From Grade 1, which is the very best, blemish-free wood, to Grade 4, which will play just as well but will have more blemishes.  The premium bat blades are the whitest with the closest grain.  “Blemishes” on the face of a bat will be variations in colour, inconsistencies of grain, and “specks” – tiny grains of grit taken up into the tree from the soil.  Tiny, “living” knots are confined to the edge of the blade, and larger, “dead” knots are cut out and filled and will only appear on the reverse of a blade. This is only a guideline.

I will discuss below a view of international batsmen that are currently playing with the TON Brand Cricket range.

TON Jonny Bairstow Players Cricket Bat

The blade is carved out of hand selected Super Grade A English Willow. The high price you pay will be paid back hundredfold by the performance of the bat. The design is as per the specifications of England's Jonny Bairstow’s personal bat.

Johnny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow, the son of the former England wicketkeeper David Bairstow, is a fighting hard working wicketkeeper-batter who has become a cricketer to be reckoned with in England's middle order. It was and is difficult as he has to compete with Josh Butler with the gloves. He continued making runs for his provincial or club side.

He got a start in test matches and proved his critics wrong by scoring runs at the test level. In the one-day format, his opening partnership with Jason Rooy was the success story that made his career blossom. He won the 2019 World cup with the England team. He makes the England team currently as a genuine batsman.

A round handle allows the bottom hand to come into play more easily for aerial shots. As a loose rule players that attack mainly with horizontal bat shots tend to prefer a Round handle as it allows for an easier roll of the wrist over the ball. Concave edges support the carved blade. Concaving is a curve made between the edge and spine that helps to reduce weight whilst keeping the middle and edges as big as possible while full shapes are flat between the edge and spine and are more forgiving for off-center hits. This ensures an easy pick-up of the bat. The ease of ‘pick-up’ of a bat while batting is more important than its absolute weight, and depends on both the bat size and how the weight is distributed around the blade. Different batsmen prefer different ‘pick-ups. It is important to get the feel of several, bats before making a choice. The Scale grip for the Bat Handle assists with control and comfort. In my opinion giving the best bond between gloves and bat. Scale grips have a surface texture that resembles fish scales or snake skin. Sometimes it is called snake grips.

SS TON David Malan Original Player Bat 2022

SS Ton David Malan cricket bats are made from the world's finest Grade 1 English willow and weigh approximately 2.10 lbs. The bats come with an unfinished toe, a trademark of original player bats by SS.

DAWID MALAN

Born 3 September 1987 in South Africa. He is an English cricketer who plays internationally for England in all formats. In domestic cricket, he represents Yorkshire. He played in multiple Twenty20 leagues, including for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Malan made his Test and Twenty20 International (T20I) debuts in 2017, and his One Day International (ODI) debuts in 2019 In 2020, his rating in the ICC Men's Player Rankings for T20 hit 915, which remains the record high in the format.

The bats have a spotless front face with 7 – 9 dark and even grains showing the quality of the willow used to make them. The main features of this bat are mentioned below! SS TON DAVID MALAN is a full-profile cricket bat with a slight duckbill toe having large and bulky edges. The edges are 40mm thick, enhancing the bat’s hitting ability. The bats have a spine height of 65mm, allowing a wider sweet spot to hit massive shots consistently. The ping is exceptionally consistent and solid, as you can expect from an original player bat from SS. SS Ton David Malan comes with an oval handle with a single grip on top of them. There aren’t many original player bats that come with an oval handle. So, if you want a premium quality bat with an oval handle, SS Ton David Malan might be the best choice. The weight of the bat is equally distributed throughout the entire bat. SS Ton David Malan has a very light pickup because of its oval handle and thick shoulders, ensuring maximum bat speed for accurate and consistent hitting.

Conclusion

In my opinion the Ton range is a quality range of bats and equipment. The huge concave edges and clear wide blade ensure hard hitting. The round handles assist with the cross blade shots and are a huge benefit in T20 matches. The air dried would process ensure quality willow for the bat range. Batt range are expensive if you compare it to other ranges, but it reward you with quality results of the blade. Ton is the range of the SAREEN SPORTS (SS).
