The Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats are made of premium players grade English Willow and has mostly 8 to 10 grains. Although players may think that more grains may be better, these bats’ grains are straight, and has no blemishes and makes the bat more durable than other bats with more grains. This greatly impacts the liability and the performance of this bat over a longer period.
The Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats have lots of flair with traditional Adidas stickers that represent the famous three stripes and gives the bat the perfect final touch to make it a true piece of art. Being able to play off the front and back foot with complete control allows a player like Sam Curran to excel in all three formats of the game. The low middle and the significant bow of the bat tend to suit someone who likes driving the ball and makes it possible to clear the ring without having to scoop the ball that much.
The Octopus grip on the Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats allow for complete control. This allows the batsman to feel confident with the bat in hand when he/she is standing in the middle with balls flying at them.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – Full PROFILE SHAPE: The full player’s style cricket bat is the most common of bats in cricket bat production. This kind of profile is both the most powerful and most forgiving. Such a design is what you will usually see at the international level. A full profile usually means one of two things. Either the bat is constructed from high quality lightweight willow or has an above average weigh with minimum concaving and scalloping at the back of the bat.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which allows you to get your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION: Not too high or too low, the mid sweet spot position is the most popular setup among all cricket bats. This setup gives performance both straight and square of the wicket, while allowing players to be confident with an array of shots. This prime sweet spot position is also famous for what many refer to as a ‘balanced’ pickup.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly strengthens the Top hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was. You get more deflection for off-centred shots, which a touch player can exploit for late shots backward of the square. Round faces put less stress on the shoulders and handle because that energy is deflected rather than twisting the blade. All that puts stress around the splice joint, so the flatter the face the more twist is generated the harder you hit and closer to the edge. It is the same reason a flatter face is more forgiving and more energy remains in the shot for off-center shots making the middle feel wider. The big edge was a by-product of the flatter face. The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise.
Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A semi-square TOE: This bat is not fitted with a toe guard. I would suggest to add a toe guard to this bat as it would protect the bat against excessive moisture. The main reason for a Semi square toe is it help minimize damage from tapping at the crease and running between the wickets with your bat, as the toe is slightly offset.
The Adidas XT 1.0 is made of Grade 1+ English Willow, which tend to be softer than other bats but reaches their peak performance way before the other bats do. These bats can have anywhere from 7 to 9 grains.

This bat has a sweet spot in the lower part of the bat to play those aggressive front foot shots. These features make this bat a really great choice for players who don’t want to spend too much on the player bats.
Adidas XT 1.0 – Adidas bats – A slightly scalloped PROFILE SHAPE: A small amount of scalloping is seen in this cricket bat. The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide and large as possible. A lot of high quality bats can contain a small amount of scalloping in order to reduce their weight.

One other feature is a continuous spine profile with little concaving. This increases the length of the sweet spot of the bat.
There is a bit of wood to be shaved off at the sides of the spine to reduce the weight of the bat but still has enormous edges that will get miss hits to the boundary. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

The round handle allows you to move your hands around the bat for different bowlers. This bat will assist bottom-hand dominant players that would like to clear the infield with ease. The face of this bat is not rounded but has a square face. This was a face profile that was introduced in the early 2000s. It is done to give the appearance of the big bats we all know today. It allows the bat maker to press the bat lighter and get a great ping in the sweet spot.
It takes a touch longer for the bat to ‘open up’ but once it does the ball stays hit. The full profile and rounded spine with no concaving give this bat a large sweet spot.
The Incurza range has round handles with a mid-middle sweet spot and the face of this range is square. Suitable for the stroke player that plays all-round the ground and is comfortable on the front and back foot. The grades in the range are the only thing that is different in the bats below and that makes the price more affordable. According to my opinion, this doesn’t affect the quality of the timing of the bats. The lower-grade wood just has more blemishes and butterfly stains and darker wood that are part of the willow.
This bat has a great feel, much similar to the Incurza 1. This bat has the same characteristics and Duckbill profile as the Incurza 1.0. The only difference is that a lower Grade 3 English cleft is being used in this bat. This gives you a player profile bat and feel. If you need a good bat, but only have a certain budget this bat is for you.

Adidas Pellara 2.0 – Adidas bats -A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was. You get more deflection for off-centered shots, which a touch player can exploit for late shots backward of the square. Round faces put less stress on the shoulders and handle because that energy is deflected rather than twisting the blade. All that puts stress around the splice joint, so the flatter the face the more twist is generated the harder you hit and closer to the edge. It is the same reason a flatter face is more forgiving and more energy remains in the shot for off-centre shots making the middle feel wider. The big edge was a by-product of the flatter face. The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise

Adidas bats are good in terms of gameplay and performance but if you compare them to major manufacturers such as Kookaburra or SS, they are not perfect in build quality. You can find some blemishes and other spots in the bat’s face and differences in the edge thickness of bats from the same grade willow bats. Other than that, all the bats are extremely light in the pickup and have excellent weight distribution and spring and bounce. Adidas don’t manufacture their own bats. Their bats are manufactured with a bat making company in India. They make the bat to their specifications and then just add the branded Adidas sticker to the bat. They sponsored a lot of Cricketers through the years. Kevin Petersen played with Adidas throughout his career. There is recent news that Adidas is getting out of some cricket gear including bats and batting pads. This means that these bats might be one of the last ones we see from Adidas. Although their bats are really good in terms of quality and performance, Adidas bats are getting discontinued. This might be the perfect time to use these bats before they disappear.
