The Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats are made of premium players grade English Willow and has mostly 8 to 10 grains. Although players may think that more grains may be better, these bats’ grains are straight, and has no blemishes and makes the bat more durable than other bats with more grains. This greatly impacts the liability and the performance of this bat over a longer period.

The Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats have lots of flair with traditional Adidas stickers that represent the famous three stripes and gives the bat the perfect final touch to make it a true piece of art. Being able to play off the front and back foot with complete control allows a player like Sam Curran to excel in all three formats of the game. The low middle and the significant bow of the bat tend to suit someone who likes driving the ball and makes it possible to clear the ring without having to scoop the ball that much.

The Octopus grip on the Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats allow for complete control. This allows the batsman to feel confident with the bat in hand when he/she is standing in the middle with balls flying at them.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – Full PROFILE SHAPE: The full player’s style cricket bat is the most common of bats in cricket bat production. This kind of profile is both the most powerful and most forgiving. Such a design is what you will usually see at the international level. A full profile usually means one of two things. Either the bat is constructed from high quality lightweight willow or has an above average weigh with minimum concaving and scalloping at the back of the bat.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which allows you to get your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION: Not too high or too low, the mid sweet spot position is the most popular setup among all cricket bats. This setup gives performance both straight and square of the wicket, while allowing players to be confident with an array of shots. This prime sweet spot position is also famous for what many refer to as a ‘balanced’ pickup.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly strengthens the Top hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was. You get more deflection for off-centred shots, which a touch player can exploit for late shots backward of the square. Round faces put less stress on the shoulders and handle because that energy is deflected rather than twisting the blade. All that puts stress around the splice joint, so the flatter the face the more twist is generated the harder you hit and closer to the edge. It is the same reason a flatter face is more forgiving and more energy remains in the shot for off-center shots making the middle feel wider. The big edge was a by-product of the flatter face. The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise.

Adidas XT Elite – Adidas bats – A semi-square TOE:  This bat is not fitted with a toe guard. I would suggest to add a toe guard to this bat as it would protect the bat against excessive moisture. The main reason for a Semi square toe is it help minimize damage from tapping at the crease and running between the wickets with your bat, as the toe is slightly offset.

Adidas bats XT 1.0 is one of the top-quality bats in the Adidas XT lineup in terms of English willow quality and the grade 1 quality cleft used in making this bat.

This Adidas XT 1.0 – Adidas bats come in various colors such as grey and black, red and black, and even white and black. The trademark three-stripe stickers give the bat its recognizable look and compliment the natural look of the willow which rarely has a blemish.

Off-white or Black, embossed stickers add the last bit of finesse to the Adidas XT 1.0 – Adidas bats that make it stand out even more and provides variation to the supply of bats as it can be bought in any of the two colors without any big differences between the bats themselves. Unlike the player bats of this lineup with a thick bottom, Adidas bats XT 1.0- comes with a duckbill toe profile with a thick bottom.

The spine is a little bit lower on this bat and has a height of around 63mm. This bat can have anywhere from 10 to 12 even grains on the face. Like other Adidas bats, XT 1.0 also has a solid spring bounce with a hard solid sound of the blade of the bat. This makes these bats comfortable and prone to shocks during the hitting.

This bat has a sweet spot in the lower part of the bat to play those aggressive front foot shots. The bat’s shoulders are still thick enough to contain the shock generated from late cuts and pull shots. These features make this bat a really great choice for players who don’t want to spend too much on the player bats.

Adidas XT 1.0 – Adidas bats – A slightly scalloped PROFILE SHAPE: A small amount of scalloping is seen in this cricket bat. The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide and large as possible. A lot of high quality bats can contain a small amount of scalloping in order to reduce their weight.

Adidas XT 1.0 – Adidas bats – A Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.

This specific bat has a semi-oval handle that will give you the advantages of both an oval and rounded-handle cricket bat.

The face profile is rounded with a mid-sweet spot that will aid front and back foot strokes.

You would be looking for a mid-sweet spot if you see yourself as a batsman that can play around the ground. This means if you enjoy strokes on the front and back foot, you play an all types of wickets and you want the largest area for the sweet spot. A Thick spine with a spine height of approximately 64mm assists with a lot of willow behind the sweet spot which would assist with a ping of the bat.

A reasonably light bat with a huge profile with a weight range of approximately 1,105.63 grams to 1,162.23 grams.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – A Duckbill PROFILE SHAPE: This profile adds thickness to the toe and assists with the pickup of the bat. This ensures that the bat is well-balanced. Many international and professional players prefer this batting profile due to the correct balance of wood left in the hitting zone of the bat. Perfect for dominant front foot players and when you play on slow low pitches. You will be able to hit big shots clearing the boundary with this bat.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – A Slight BOW: This is a combination of the traditional and large bow which is the most common when making a cricket bat. Indian sub-continental shapes are typically seen with a more pronounced bow enabling the sweet spot to be lower on the blade as well. Ideal to bat with this bat on slow low pitches. This is a regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.

The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – Mid to more low SWEET SPOT POSITION: A 2-in-one setup that allows favorability to players who like to hit down the ground, but still want the benefits of a mid-sweet spot.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – Semi oval HANDLE TYPE: The handle has 3 rubber inserts that assist with shock absorption and comfort. A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play, and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

Adidas XT 2.0 – Adidas bats – A semi-square to square TOE: This bat needs some form of toe preparation via shoe goo, a toe guard, or your favorite secret recipe.

One difference between this bat and the other bats in the Incurza range is that it features a big, thick, curved toe profile. The advantage is that it provides a bit of extra length to the bat. One other feature is a continuous spine profile with little concaving. This increases the length of the sweet spot of the bat.

There is a bit of wood to be shaved off at the sides of the spine to reduce the weight of the bat but still has enormous edges that will get miss hits to the boundary. This bat is for the hard hitter that plays with aggressive cricket shots .The balance of this bat is emacutable and feels lighter than it actually is.

Adidas Incurza Gold LE – Adidas bats – A Duckbill PROFILE SHAPE: This profile adds thickness to the toe and assists with the pickup of the bat. This ensures that the bat is well balanced. This bat is very different from the Incurza Gold LE in terms of build and design. Unlike the Gold LE, this bat has a squared duckbill toe profile that is also thinner than Gold LE.

In other notable differences, the bat’s face is pretty flat and has thick curved edges. A slight shave-off has been done on the sides of the spine to reduce weight in the lower part of the bat and increase pick-up.

Adidas Incurza 1.0 Cricket Bat 2022 – Adidas bats – Slightly Scalloped PROFILE SHAPE: A small amount of scalloping is seen in a very large amount of cricket bats. The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide as possible. Even very high-quality bats can contain a small amount of scalloping in order to reduce their weight.

Adidas Incurza 1.0 Cricket Bat 2022 – Adidas bats – Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

This one-of-a-kind bat features Grade 2 English Willow with a mid-middle sweet spot. Suitable for the stroke player that plays all-round the ground and is comfortable on the front and back foot. One other unique thing about the Incurza range, the bat comes with a round handle.

The round handle allows you to move your hands around the bat for different bowlers. This bat will assist bottom-hand dominant players that would like to clear the infield with ease. The face of this bat is not rounded but has a square face. This was a face profile that was introduced in the early 2000s. It is done to give the appearance of the big bats we all know today. It allows the bat maker to press the bat lighter and get a great ping in the sweet spot.

It takes a touch longer for the bat to ‘open up’ but once it does the ball stays hit. The full profile and rounded spine with no concaving give this bat a large sweet spot.

The Incurza range has round handles with a mid-middle sweet spot and the face of this range is square. Suitable for the stroke player that plays all-round the ground and is comfortable on the front and back foot. The grades in the range are the only thing that is different in the bats below and that makes the price more affordable. According to my opinion, this doesn’t affect the quality of the timing of the bats. The lower-grade wood just has more blemishes and butterfly stains and darker wood that are part of the willow.

7. Adidas INCURZA 3.0 Cricket Bat 2022

This bat has a great feel, much similar to the Incurza 1. This bat has the same characteristics and Duckbill profile as the Incurza 1.0. The only difference is that a lower Grade 3 English cleft is being used in this bat. This gives you a player profile bat and feel. If you need a good bat, but only have a certain budget this bat is for you.

Adidas Pellara 2.0 – Adidas bats – Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.

Adidas Pellara 2.0 – Adidas bats – Extended 64mm SPINE HEIGHT: Cricket Bat Spine is found on the back face of the cricket bat. The spine is the line that runs down the center of the cricket bat’s back starting from the handle and running down to the toe. Higher spine or a thicker swell depth represents more willow mass behind the sweet spot.

Adidas Pellara 2.0 – Adidas bats -A flat FACE: Round is the traditional shape that until 15 years ago was all there was. You get more deflection for off-centered shots, which a touch player can exploit for late shots backward of the square. Round faces put less stress on the shoulders and handle because that energy is deflected rather than twisting the blade. All that puts stress around the splice joint, so the flatter the face the more twist is generated the harder you hit and closer to the edge. It is the same reason a flatter face is more forgiving and more energy remains in the shot for off-centre shots making the middle feel wider. The big edge was a by-product of the flatter face. The new MCC law allows for a maximum of 5 mm camber. This is probably a good compromise

The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide as possible. Even very high-quality bats can contain a small amount of scalloping in order to reduce their weight.

Adidas Pellera 3,4 and 5 – Adidas bats -Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.

Adidas Pellera 3,4 and 5 – Adidas bats -Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.

FAQs

It is a bat that gives you the power and correct feel in the pick up without any effort.

  1. Adidas bats are the first choice for batsmen who are attacking batsmen. Choose any bat from Adidas and it will perform when it comes to aggressive gameplay. There are 2 main reasons for this. One is that Adidas’s weight balance on their bats is phenomenal according to what I experienced picking up their bats. A bat that weighs 1190 grams only feels like a 1134 grams and thus offers a lighter and faster pickup. Your hands can go through the ball quicker and faster. Secondly, Adidas willow offers a spring bounce on the wood and gives a hard ping. It means that you can time the ball nicely and see it go out of the stands with ease.
  1. Adidas bats are made with professional standards in mind. The extra bounce, sweet
  2. spot, and broad edges on the blade make Adidas bats one of the perfect in the competition. They are known for their aggressive playing style and spring bounce off the willow which makes it easier to time the ball and enhance placement accuracy.
  1. There is recent news that Adidas is getting out of some cricket gear including bats and batting pads. This means that these bats might be one of the last ones we see from Adidas. Although their bats are really good in terms of quality and performance, Adidas bats are getting discontinued. So this might be the perfect time to use these bats before they disappear.

Adidas Incurza range Mid to low sweet spot.

Adidas XT range Mid to low and low sweet spot.

Adidas Pellara range extra low sweet spot.

High Sweet spot: You will be looking for a high sweet spot if you play on high bouncy wickets. For example, South Africa and Australia. Most of the Adidas bats are made for lower bouncing cricket pitches.

Mid-Sweet spot: You would like this type of sweet spot when you can play shots all-round the entire cricket ground. You can play shots comfortably of the front and backfoot and you prefer a large, sweet spot on your cricket bat. This sweet spot will be suitable to play with the Incurza range.

Low sweet spot: A front-foot player will enjoy this type of sweet spot. Suitable in subcontinent conditions where the ball keeps low on the bounce after bouncing. If you like hitting straight and clearing the inner field then you would like this type of bat. The XT range focuses on low sweets pot area.

Lower sweet spot: This sweet spot is also for low bouncing pitches and the much lower sweet spot assists a lot with lofted drives or straight bat shots. The Pellera have a very low sweet spot.

Conclusion

Adidas bats are good in terms of gameplay and performance but if you compare them to major manufacturers such as Kookaburra or SS, they are not perfect in build quality. You can find some blemishes and other spots in the bat’s face and differences in the edge thickness of bats from the same grade willow bats. Other than that, all the bats are extremely light in the pickup and have excellent weight distribution and spring and bounce. Adidas don’t manufacture their own bats. Their bats are manufactured with a bat making company in India. They make the bat to their specifications and then just add the branded Adidas sticker to the bat. They sponsored a lot of Cricketers through the years. Kevin Petersen played with Adidas throughout his career. There is recent news that Adidas is getting out of some cricket gear including bats and batting pads. This means that these bats might be one of the last ones we see from Adidas. Although their bats are really good in terms of quality and performance, Adidas bats are getting discontinued. This might be the perfect time to use these bats before they disappear.
