A large Bow: A large bow acts as a counterbalance, raising the center of gravity of the cricket bat, thereby assisting pick-up. In other words, a bat with considerable bow and a lower middle can feel the same as a straight blade with a higher middle.
It helps with control of strokes, as the player’s hands are positioned more in front of the ball during contact. It acts like a scoop, to produce more lofted (higher) shots, which do however run the risk of being caught.
Higher spine or a thicker swell depth represents more willow mass behind the sweet spot. The sweet spot is deeper and exhibits better rebounding qualities. A deeper swell helps to give the cricket bat a larger sweet spot.
A flatter face profile: assists with better control of the bat, because of the flatter face.
Big EDGES: The Big edges make for a forgiving and powerful cricket bat with a wider sweet spot.
A Mid to low SWEET SPOT POSITION: A two-in-one setup that allows some favorability to players who like to hit down the ground but still want the benefits of a mid-sweet spot. Do you rarely find yourself on high-bouncing wickets? A synthetic wicket specialist? Or thinking about a tour of the subcontinent? Well, this sweet spot setup could really help some of your shots. Blast a straight drive through the inner field and you’ll know what we mean.

Duckbill: A duckbill profile adds thickness to the toe yet aids pickup for a better-balanced bat. This is the bat profile preferred by many international players due to the balance and amount of wood left in the bat in the hitting zone. Perfect for front-foot players and on slow low English wickets. This bat is designed for big hitters and for clearing the ropes effortlessly.
The Sweet spot would be middle and mid to slight low on the willow. There will be mostly 8 to 10 straight grains on the willow evenly spaced with almost no blemishes. This can vary from Bat to Bat. The pick-up is light for bats around 1200 grams. The balance of this Bat is not comparable. The Bat willow will be very responsive and the ping will be active on the blade. You can pay from 400$ upwards for this awesome Bat. Prices may vary from different stores and online stores.
Bas bats – A duckbill PROFILE SHAPE: A duckbill profile adds thickness to the toe yet aids pickup for a better-balanced bat. This is the bat profile preferred by many international players due to the balance and amount of wood left in the bat in the hitting zone. Perfect for front-foot players and on slow low English wickets. This bat is designed for big hitters and for clearing the ropes effortlessly.
Bas bats – A Standard BOW: The Cricket Bow is the curve of the cricket bat from the tip of the handle to the end of the toe. The Cricket bow is based on the personal preference of you as a batsmen. Some cricket players prefer cricket bats with a larger bow. When seen in profile, you’ll notice that there is a curve from the bottom of the handle through to the toe. This entire curve is referred to as the ‘bow’. The regular bow is found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive in your hands.
Bas bats – A Medium SPINE HEIGHT: What is the spine of a cricket bat? Cricket Bat Spine is found on the back face of the cricket bat. The spine is the line that runs down the center of the cricket bat’s back starting from the handle running down to the toe. A higher spine or a thicker swell depth represents more willow mass behind the sweet spot. Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle of the bat.
Bas bats – A Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat-faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsmen to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.
Bas bats – Big EDGES: Big edges make for a forgiving and powerful cricket bat with a wider sweet spot.
Bas bats – A Mid SWEET SPOT POSITION: Not too high or too low, the mid sweet spot position is the most popular setup among all cricket bats. You would be looking for a mid-sweet spot if you see yourself as a ‘complete’ batter. This means if you enjoy strokes on the front and back foot, you play on all types of wickets and you want the largest area for the sweet spot. This setup gives performance both straight and square of the wicket, while allowing players to be confident with an array of shots. This prime sweet spot position is also famous for what many refer to as a ‘balanced’ pickup.
Bas bats – Round HANDLE TYPE: Allows the bottom hand to come into play more easily for aerial shots. As a loose rule players that attack mainly with horizontal bat shots tend to prefer a Round handle as it allows for an easier roll of the wrist over the ball. Typically the choice of Asian players. It is for players who are wristy, like using the bottom hand and like to feel the bottom hand on the handle.
Bas bats – Semi flat or square TOE: This bat needs some form of toe preparation via shoe goo, a toe guard, or your favorite secret recipe.

Three-grade willow normally contains a minimum of 5 grains and can contain red color, butterfly stains and knots in the wood. This won’t look as smooth as a grade 1 bat, but it doesn’t have an impact on the timing and ping of the bat. The bat is also more affordable but still gives you exceptional output, performance and pleasure. These grades can have small knots and butterfly stains.
The grade willow won’t have an influence on the ping of the bat. The lower grade of the willow just reduces the overall price of the bat. The price of this awesome bat is 149$ and upwards. Great value for money. The Vampire king hitter bat comes with thick edges, thick shoulders and thick toes. The willow has a natural finish with a slightly brownish tinge.
King Hitter English willow cricket bat comes in usually with 5 to 7 grains. It features a perfectly balanced design with contoured edges and a scalloped back design.A big blade suited to both front and back foot play is a key feature of this Bat. The Bat consists of a slide mid-position bow with a big edge profile.A lot of feeling comes from the multi-textured grip.
Bas bats – A Slightly scalloped PROFILE SHAPE: This bat is created to ensure a lightweight pickup with slight concaving to help control the weight. I would recommend this profile for a player who likes the spine running right through the toe and looking for a light bat with the sweet spot being positioned mid to high. Ideal for players who play on the back foot and enjoy using their wrists to pierce the field. A small amount of scalloping (Wood taken out of the back of the bat) is seen in this cricket bats. The goal is to save weight while still making the sweet spot as wide as possible.

This setup gives performance both straight and square of the wicket, while allowing players to be confident with an array of shots. This prime sweet spot position is also famous for what many refer to as a ‘balanced’ pickup.
Bas bats – Semi-Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.

A Duckbill Bat profile with concave edges. A Scale grip covers the Sarwack handle and assists with control and comfort. Edge thickness of 36 to 40 mm helps with miss-hit shots racing to the boundary as well.
Great value for money and will cost you about 120$ more or less.I would put an extra grip on the bat as the handle feels a bit narrow to me. The pickup is also better with a thicker grip on the handle. This is an awesome bat for the beginner batsmen that want a professional profile bat. Bas bats – Standard BOW: The regular bow found in the majority of modern cricket bats which gets your hands slightly ahead of the ball for ease of stroke play. It also helps the cricket bat feel more aggressive.
Bas bats – Medium SPINE HEIGHT: Often combined with big edges to create a forgiving bat with an extra wide hitting zone which still rewards striking the blade out of the very middle.
Bas bats – Semi-Flat FACE: One of the latest trends in cricket bat faces was born from the need to add some durability to the edges of flat faced bats. When prepared correctly semi-flat faces bring the benefits of slightly bigger edges, a wider sweet spot plus ‘point and shoot’ aiming of a flat face bat. A slight curve also allows batsman to be confident when using the wrists to manipulate the face angle.
Bas bats – Big EDGES: These edges are heading close to the magic 40mm mark. Big edges make for a forgiving and powerful cricket bat with a wider sweet spot. Please be aware that junior bats can still have big edges but they will be relative to 40mm due to their size.
Bas bats – Mid to Low SWEET SPOT POSITION: A hybrid setup that allows some favourability to players who like to hit down the ground but still want the benefits of a mid sweet spot. Rarely find yourself on high bouncing wickets? A synthetic wicket specialist? Or thinking about a tour of the subcontinent? Well this sweet spot setup could really help some of your shots. Blast a drive through the covers and you’ll know what we mean.
Bas bats – Semi- Oval HANDLE TYPE: A happy medium that brings the benefits of both oval & round handles. This shape aids alignment, slightly weakens the bottom hand for more controlled stroke play and still allows for creative use of the bottom hand.
Amla played with the BAS Bow 20-20. He was more of a timer of the ball and his BAS bats scored a lot of crucial runs for him.
Was Hasim Amla an exceptional Batsman?
I think so. He holds the record for the fastest batsman to reach 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 One Day International runs.
Amla, whose last international match came at the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, made his Test debut nearly 15 years ago. He ends his time as a South African player having represented his nation in 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20Is.
The 36-year-old’s Test career saw him hit 28 centuries with his 9282 runs in the format coming at an average of 46.64. His Test-best of 311 not out against England in 2012 is the highest individual score by a South African in Test cricket. In 2013 he rose to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Test Batting Rankings whilst also occupying the top spot in the ODI rankings.
While his ODI debut came in 2008, over three years on from his Test bow, he found success quickly in the 50-over format, becoming the fastest man (in terms of innings) to 2000 ODI runs. He also holds the record for being the quickest to 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs. Amla finishes his ODI career with 27 centuries, the most by a South African batsman, and an average of just under 50.
Amla also captained South Africa on 25 occasions across formats. On the announcement of his retirement, Amla said: “Firstly, all glory and thanks to the Almighty for granting me this Proteas journey which has been nothing but a joy and privilege.
“Learned many lessons during this incredible ride, made many friends and most importantly shared in the love of a brotherhood called #Proteafire.”
If they are the suppliers of other brands – why will I not use the BAS bat? I like the clear, uncomplicated stickers that allow me to see the grains and blemishes in the wood.
Many of the BAS bats are sold online through Amazon and other online companies. They specialize more in senior bats for High School youths and senior cricket players. Their Bats are quality and are really good priced against the other cricket brands. I will bat with a BAS cricket bat as according to me an English Willow grade 1 is the same for all cricket brands. They have a lot of variety in their Bat range to cater to all conditions. (Low and bouncy cricket pitches).
Finally, there is a bat for every type of batsman, front-foot players and back-foot players.
Return policy – Warranty and Guarantees
The different Brand suppliers have different return policies. Normally there is no warranty or guarantee on cricket bats. The reason is the nature of the game called Cricket.
Some companies and online suppliers can have their own rules regarding the first week of purchase. The return of the product might be possible if you are not satisfied with the bat or product and the product is still in sellable condition. That will depend on the specific store and supplier.
There can be mishaps with the online shopping experience is great in terms of range, price and delivery.
I bought an item from your website. But this is not what I want. Can I give it back?
Yes, you can. However, there might be limitations to accepting back-sold goods. The date of delivery and the date of return should not be more than 7 days apart.
Returned items need to be in an unused state along with all the product tags and labels intact.
Cricket Equipment suppliers will have their own procedures they would follow.
I would suggest making sure that you check the return policy and procedures before you buy a Cricket Item online.
